Our history

In nine years, the Music Moves Kids Children’s Choir has performed as the children’s chorus in seven operas in Toronto, Kingsville, Leamington, Niagara Falls and Windsor including their debut with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) in La Boheme by Puccini. They are now regular performers with Abridged Opera, Opera Niagara, Opera by Request and the WSO. They have appeared on Cogeco TV, CBC, CTV and were among the small choir chosen to perform with The Tenors at Caesar’s Windsor for their PBS Broadcast recording.  In 2016 several members of the MMK Choir travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland to perform the children’s opera Brundibar at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They have been first place winners at the Kiwanis Music Festival and in 2018 were chosen to perform John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, conducted by John Rutter himself, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. MMK hosted a children’s chorus from the Celaya Conservatory of Music in Mexico in 2019 and is excited to perform as part of the premiere performance of an original children’s opera, Flutter, about Monarch Butterflies this fall by mother-son team, Tracey Atin and James Atin-Godden.
